IFATCA raises concerns on the impact of the Deloitte Review on operational staff
The International Federation of Air Traffic Controllers’ Associations wrote to the Director General of EUROCONTROL to raise concerns on the Deloitte Review. The letter concludes:
Throughout this crisis, IFATCA has had to express similar concerns to other service providers for announcing rash and distressing decisions that adversely affected their staff immediately but undoubtedly will affect the overall ATM services in the short to medium term after the recovery. To have to issue a similar warning to EUROCONTROL, is not only surprising but deeply disappointing and worrying.
IFATCA does not question the obligation for our industry to be self-critical and self-optimising. Ultimately, we believe this should be in the proper framework and with the utmost attention for stability and respect for staff. We also believe it is completely inappropriate during a global health crisis that so dramatically affects each and every one of us.
IFATCA submits that it is in everyone’s interest that immediate steps are taken to alleviate the concerns that this report has caused for EUROCONTROL employees, in particular for the operational staff. We therefore would welcome any initiative you can take to achieve this, sooner rather than later.
